Appetit

I came back to Kuching about a month ago. I realised that the numbers of cars are getting higher and of course, the eateries back here expanded as well. Being an avid "oh ka tei", I dragged my bestie and decided that we should try Appetit for our yumcha session after our strenuous CNY shopping. It's located next to Full House in Hills Shopping Mall at the corner facing in the mall. Opposite of Delifrance.

My first thought? What a small shop.. barely 5 people can fit in the place without feeling cramped. So they fully utilized the empty space outdoor and placed 3 tables and some chairs for the customers to eat there. I always thought afternoon teas are supposed to be relaxing with the cup of tea and lovely scones. But we had to sit outside where loud musics were played and cars zoomed around. And warning! A totally biased review as I was pretty pissed off with this place.

Here you go. The full list of their drinks menu. I was really disappointed by the choices and despite that I gave them a chance and ordered Ice Flat White? Being a total noob in coffee and whatever that is not on the Starbucks menu will be labeled as foreign to me, I asked the waiter. He told me, it's Latte. I went and Google. No. It's not Latte. It's just similar. Fine. Then I asked whether I can have the other hot drinks as cold ones. He said no. In my mind was, " What is wrong with this place!? Can't you just add ice?!" Since I was dying for a cold drink and I wanted coffee, I just had to settle for Flat White. And guess what.. Flat White supposed to come with microfoam. Our version???

I had the shock of my life when our Flat White came with a small shot of sugar syrup and totally diluted. That wasn't the worst part. 15 minutes after consumption, my stomach was playing its own symphony and trying to push the nasty liquid out of my throat. I thought it was due to the previous night's hardcore party so I tried to held it back and forget about it. It turned out much worse later and I started having palpitation. Trembling hands and fast heart beats accompanied me throughout the night. I wasn't the only feeling so. Even my bestie felt the same. Damn it.

However, this place wasn't all bad as their pastries and cakes are pretty good. They specialize in cupcakes and each cost RM3.50 (but it was really small). To accompany our failed Flat White wannabe, we ordered Vanilla Puff and Chocolate & Walnut Brownies. It was just nice and didn't gave us any diabetes shock (which I am awfully thankful for). The cream of the puff was rich and smooth while the brownies were moist. My advice: just go for the cakes ok? No coffee!

To end my rants, a picture of me and my beloved. Lol... what we wore that day was so similar although we never planned it beforehand. What can I say? Great minds think alike. Goodnight darlings. It's going to be a real festival soon!
